Hello, I hope you're all well 😊 Anyone who has a Bimby® has surely heard of Bimbal. For those unfamiliar, this is a juice that, in the refrigerator, can last up to 1 week without losing properties, in other words, a homemade nectar without preservatives or other industrial additives. It can be made with any fruit or even a mixture of fruits, and it's excellent for using up fruit that's starting to wilt in the fruit bowl 😉
Today, I chose to make nectar from reineta apples. This type of apple is usually sweet but acidic, and when cooked, it becomes creamy and delicious
For the nectar, you will need:
- 400 to 500g of Newtown pippin apples
- 50g of sugar
- 1 liter of water
- 1 lemon
Preparation in the Thermomix® Place the chopped and pitted apples in the mixing bowl, add the sugar and water, and cook for 30 minutes/120°/Speed 1. Add the lemon without peel or seeds and blend for 1 minute/Speed 7. Allow to cool, transfer to a bottle with a tight lid, and refrigerate until serving. This juice lasts for about 1 week.
Traditional preparation In a saucepan, place the chopped and pitted apples, add the sugar and water, and cook until the apples start to break down. Stir occasionally. Transfer the cooked apples to a blender, add the lemon without peel or seeds, and blend as much as possible. Allow to cool, transfer to a bottle with a tight lid, and refrigerate until serving. Due to the Thermomix® technology, it may be difficult to achieve the same consistency in a blender. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can strain the mixture before transferring it to the bottle. This juice lasts for about 1 week.
TIP: In addition to providing us with vitamin C, lemon acts as a natural preservative, so don't forget to add it. The amount of apples can vary depending on whether you prefer more or less pulp in your juice. Adjust the amount of sugar according to your personal taste 😉
I hope you enjoy it, happy and tasty cooking!
